This is what what we find when we have a weekend lunch at Roast. We love this place because it is right in the middle of the Borough market which makes a great outdoor activity to do with your kids but also because it is minutes away from the contemporary modern art museum Tate Modern."

"Restaurants Contemporary Global Spitalfields. The best way to describe The Kitchens in Spitalfields is as a street food market and restaurant hybrid. Launched by Nuno Mendes (of Chiltern Firehouse fame), it features up to ten rotating kiosks ranging from Flank (nose-to-tail British cooking) to Thousand Knives (Japanese small plates) and Yum Bun (steamed buns) – although we’re sold on the Insta-famous crispy shengjianbao (Shanghai’s pan-fried ‘soup dumplings’) from Dumpling Shack."

The market takes place every Sunday and, while we don’t make it there often (Sundays are reserved for laziness in our household), we are always pleased when we do. Everyone at Columbia Road Flower Market will be photographing in the flowers, but try to catch a bit of what is going on behind the scenes as well, or a completed bouquet shot that highlights your personality."

"A wonderful explosion of colour and life, this weekly market sells a beautiful array of flowers, pot plants, bulbs, seeds and everything you might need for the garden. It's a lot of fun and the best place to hear proper Cockney barrow-boy banter ('We got flowers cheap enough for ya muvver-in-law's grave' etc). It gets really packed, so go as early as you can, or later on when the vendors sell off cut flowers cheaply."

"This street market off Hackney Road is an explosion of colour thanks to the breathtaking flowers that fill the stalls from exotic plants to local flora. Unsurprisingly, it smells incredible too. You might have to navigate your way through hordes of Instagram fans trying to capture that perfect picture, but it's well worth it just for the sights."

"There are various themed markets held throughout the year at the Southbank Centre, but the most regular two are the food market and the book market.
